Infant Daycare Near Me: Your Baby's First Weeks in Edmonton

You found an infant daycare near you, toured it, and secured a space. Now comes the part most parents worry about most: the first few weeks. The good news is that babies adapt well when the transition is gradual, predictable, and built around their own routines.

Week one: gradual entry

A good baby daycare does not expect a full day on day one. At Star Learners, families usually start with short visits — an hour with a parent in the room, then a short stay alone, then a morning including a nap. Each step builds trust with the primary educator who will care for your baby.

Matching home routines

• Share your baby's feeding schedule, bottle temperature, and solids progress
• Describe how your baby falls asleep — rocking, a sleep sack, white noise
• Bring a familiar comfort item and a labelled spare outfit
• Tell educators the cues your baby uses for hunger and tiredness

Infant care follows the baby's clock, not the centre's. Feeding and naps happen on demand, and safe sleep practices are followed for every nap.

What daily updates should tell you

Expect a clear daily report covering bottles and meals, diapers, naps, mood, and small milestones. These updates help you keep evenings and weekends consistent with daycare days.

"The first week I cried in the parking lot. By week three she was reaching for her educator at drop-off — and that was the reassurance I needed."

Signs your baby is settling

• Eating and napping closer to their normal pattern
• Calming more quickly after drop-off
• Smiling at or reaching for their primary educator
• Exploring toys and the room with curiosity
